zhakan studio is a new design practice grounded in and committed to continuously engaging with historical and cultural narratives. Through creative inquiry, the practice seeks to create work that goes beyond aesthetics and offers depth and meaning in cultural storytelling.
the work draws on Kazakh cultural heritage and Soviet modernist visual language, translating these influences into sculptural form, textiles, garments, imagery, and other forms of visual storytelling.
The studio made its debut presentation as part of the British Fashion Council Discovery Lab in February 2026, extending its exploration of cultural legacy through fashion and moving image.
